Blue Highway Pizza staff |
This week we talk with Layla Ruffino, the marketing manager and community organizer for Blue Highway Pizzeria in Gainesville, Florida.
Having recently opend a third location in Ocala in June and maintaining their Gainesville and Micanopy locations, means that working with the community and using social media are crucial.
Q: When and why did you join Twitter?
A: We joined Twitter about two years ago. To be honest I
didn't see the value in it right away and just linked our Facebook to Twitter and would occasionally send out Tweets. We have been a lot more active over the past year on Twitter and are happy with the results.
Q: We have found only about 50% of pizzerias have a presence on social media. What advice do you have for pizzerias in terms of social media?
A: Stay active and engaged. It's a great way to keep in
contact with your guests, other businesses and the community. Word of mouth is the greatest form of advertisement. If your guests feel a connection with you they will be more likely to share it with their friends.
Q: What you have found to be the most effective posts on Twitter?
A: The most effective posts have been conversations with
with happy guests. I just love it when I share a picture or a special and it starts conversation.
Q: What is the key to success with social media for any pizzeria?
A: The key to our success is engaging with our guests. I try
to make posts that will inspire conversation and get people excited. Picture of food aregreat but everyone likes to see the behind the scene shots too.
Q: What is unique to your restaurant that you try to highlight on social media?
A: Our team is like a family and our guests feel at home
when they dine with us. I like to capture moments of our everyone working together and having fun.
