CAL'Z Pizza celebrates five years of success on Facebook

Donald Calway, owner of Cal'z Pizza
A recent side project I have been working on has me checking on all of our e-subscribers Facebook pages. While some pizzerias continue to not be on Facebook (a smaller percent than a year ago though!), others have taken social media and run with it. Meet Donald Calway, owner of Cal'z Pizza, Subs and Chicken Wings, who joined Facebook five years ago. At Cal'z, from their delivery cars to pizza boxes to club program, branding is key and they use the brand and incorporate it on Facebook.

PMQ:  How long have you been on Facebook?

DC: We've been on there for 5 years!

PMQ: What is unique to your pizzeria in terms of social media?

DC: We post a lot of pictures but also we have the Calzilla and Calzowns.

(The best way to describe what the Calzilla is, is to show you below)

PMQ: What are some tips for the best uses of  Facebook for a pizzeria?

DC: We have found that asking questions to our customers is the key to social media. We also let them know specials and deals quickly and customers pick up the information on their time.

encourages people to get on Facebook and win!
PMQ:  Have you found certain times of day to be the best for tweets? Facebook posts?

DC: Before dinner! We hope we entice them!

PMQ:  What is the key to success with social media for any pizzeria?

DC: To stay relevant on Facebook, post daily and keep it fresh.
PMQ: Not every pizza shop can afford a PR firm, so for those who are busy and can't hire this job out, what advice do you give them for social media if they just can't post daily?

DC:  It is so important to at least listen to your customers and respond when someone leaves any and all messages.

PMQ:  We have found only about 60% of pizzerias have a presence on social media. What advice do you have for pizzerias in terms of social media?

Ben, employee at Cal'z Pizza
DC: I think it's the best way to show off what were all about!
